In addition to this we have a white pique t-shirt with the association logo, this is available in a very limited amount so be fast if you want one. Hello Baji Association members,
Here's some additional information about the trip to China this spring.
We are departing either on Saturday 18.5. or Sunday 19.5. to Beijing. We have not bought the flight tickets yet, as we are waiting for possible special offers from Stockmann's Hullut Päivät. Everyone is of course free to buy their flight tickets earlier but according to earlier experiences it may be possible to get reduced prices. Also the duration of the trip can be decided by each person individually, you can return home earlier if you wish.
An addition to the earlier travel plan is that we will also travel to Qingdao, which is the home town of Tsingtao beer. The city is located between Beijing and Shanghai and it it famous for its water reservoirs. We will most likely take the bullet train from Beijing to Qingdao. We shall stay in Qingdao and the surrounding mountain area for a few days.
At this point we have three persons registered from Stockholm, three from Finland and one from France.
If the total number of participants is 7, the total cost for the trip will be approximately 2400 € which includes the travel costs for master Lü. This sum does not include the traditional bonus we will pay to master Lü which has usually been about 300-400 €. This means approximately an additional 60 € for each person. (The purpose is to compensate for master Lü's lost salaries during the trip.)
If we get more people to join the trip the travel expenses will be lower for each person.

BACKGROUND:
Lü Baochun
Lü Baochun was born in 1956. He started his martial arts studies with his father, learning Shaolinquan. When he was eight years old, his father introduced him to several martial arts masters. He has participated many times in the Beijing municipal and national championship tournaments with great success. Lü Baochun has studied several martial arts but his main interest is in the real essence of bajiquan and taijiquan.
Ville Heikkala
Ville is one of Lü Baochun's first students in Finland. He studies Chen and Yang style Taiji and some Xingyi. If needed, Ville is a substitute teacher or an assistant in Taiji beginners' and advanced courses.

Trip to China 2013
Hello Baji Association members,
We are again organizing a trip to China. Departure would be 17.5. or 18.5. and returning to Finland on 6.6. or 7.6. We are looking for the cheapest possible flights and therefore the dates are not yet fixed. And naturally you can return earlier if you wish.
The itinerary would include Beijing, Guilin and the Datong temple area near Beijing.
The budget is difficult to calculate at the moment but the total, including travelling, accommodation, food, entrance tickets etc, should be around 2000 €.

It is that time of the year again when you can come to familiarize yourself with the associations activities and influence them. We are organizing the official annual spring meeting at Kisahalli, all members are welcome. The meeting is held in our official language, finnish.

Demonstration on January 7, 2013
Baji Association demonstrates its activities on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 18:30-19:30 at Zacharias Topelius school in the address Stenbäckinkatu 14, Töölö, Helsinki. The event is free of charge. There is good parking space on the school's yard for those coming by car.
We will display the martial and health arts taught in our association. Master Lü will be present and the audience will be able to freely pose questions about our teaching, training and general activity of the association.

Hello members of the Baji Association.
We are once again celebrating another year of training at Baji ry. We welcome you to come join us for our annual winter celebration. The theme of the party will be a fundraiser for commemorating Han LongChuan, Master Lü's second Baji teacher. The association will be raising money to buy a tombstone for Han LongChuan's memory in the village of Luotan.

The fundraiser also represents a Christmas gift for Master Lü.

Baji Association's baji-pracititioners' trip to Sweden
We left for Stockholm on the five o’clock cruise ship and did some light training in the evening on one of the more secluded decks, beyond the eyes and ears of the party people onboard. The boat arrived in Stockholm at ten o’clock the following morning and we were met by Rikard, one of our hosts and the chairman of Kungfu Stockholm. We were very excited about this weekend for a number of reasons: it had been about three months since we had last trained together in Beijing, and there was a good turn-out of people for the course. Our training place was Svea Thai - one of the birthplaces of Scandinavian thai-boxing. It was a sweaty, traditional gym with caked trails of blood on the floor and heavy punching bags hanging from the ceiling.
We began practice around eleven o’clock, starting with “cheng chui”, and we continued to practice until two o’clock. Master Lü stressed the importance of correcting the timing of this strike. Newcomers came together to learn with more experienced practitioners and time flew by very quickly. We took a break for lunch and returned to the gym. Someone asked the Master about training for body hardening and we practiced a few simple techniques meant for beginning this kind of development.
As the morning training had been quite strenuous, the afternoon consisted of the participants asking questions from the Master about their practice. Before the training ended, everyone that was willing had a chance to demonstrate their forms. Everything from “xiao jia” to “dragon form” was seen.
After training we headed towards our destination for the evening: the apartment of one of our hosts. We went to the grocery store on the way to buy ingredients and prepared a fantastic meal. The rest of the evening was spent drinking, eating and listening to martial arts stories and concepts.
The following morning we began practice again with “cheng chui”. The weather, however, did not stay suitable for outdoor practice for very long and we found ourselves chased inside by a drizzle of Scandinavian autumn rain. We spent the remaining time before lunch discussing the theory and practice of Baji. It was a great balance to the hard training that we had already been through and it resulted in much important material for consideration. Some of this information will be refined and updated onto baji.info for the benefit of those interested. We took a break for lunch after Master Lü’s lecture and practiced briefly before departing for the cruise ship. The rest of the night was spent in a jovial atmosphere, with much discussion of martial arts culture, practice and history.
We wish to thank our Swedish hosts for their hospitality and hope to encourage anyone else that is possibly interested to join our cross-Scandinavian trips. These trips are very much open for everyone and are just as much about practice as they are about building inter-Scandinavian relations.
